I think there is always a relationship between life and art. My pictures are not directly autobiographical, but they do derive from my psychological anxieties, fears and desires. In this particular series, they feel very close to home. While I am striving to accomplish goals for my mind and body. I am always rooted in the pitfalls of what it is to be a scrappy, often misguided human. I am conscious of the relationship between figures and the space around them, be it in a safe studio environment or on location in an untamed landscape. The entire body of work comes down to a number of themes but, at its core, it is a search for internal meaning.
I am always interested in the viewer creating her or his own story. In this series of mixed genre pieces, I am not preoccupied with the Interpretation of imagery or a continuity in subject matter, only that it moves the viewer, figuratively, from one place to another.
